POD is like the skin's "fight or flight - stress state," because the skin is trying to tell you that some factor exceeds its current tolerance. For this reason, the skin produces inflammatory compounds and histamine reactions, which can be seen on the skin as red, wet pimples.
When POD is in an active state, over-treating it with cosmetics should be avoided. Products with a high pH value, such as bar soaps, may further weaken the condition. BiON Skincare has developed treatment products based on clinical studies that can effectively soothe the skin's stress state, or POD. Like all of our treatment protocols, the treatment of POD also focuses on the cause-and-effect method. Our products treat the cause of the problem, i.e. the activated production of inflammatory compounds. In this way, we can comprehensively control the rash condition, and not just treat the symptoms.
It is normal that at the beginning of the treatment the skin may feel uncomfortable or that the skin starts to peel. In POD, the protective barrier of the skin is weakened, which is why even just washing with water may feel uncomfortable. The products begin to rebuild the protective barrier and the skin's resistance.
Possible flaking is caused by skin cell renewal, as the skin renewal processes start working after the resistance is restored. The skin therefore biologically tries to remove dead skin cells, to reveal a healthy and balanced cell layer underneath.
Keep the skin carefully moisturized and soft, so that the symptoms of POD and the healing processes of the skin can be promoted.
