Find a balance for scalp problems
Almost all of us experience scalp problems at some point. There are numerous treatment options for the symptoms, but the most important thing is to find an individual balance for the condition. In this article, we'll go over how to get your scalp back in harmony with the three most common symptoms: hair loss, scalp sensitivity, and dandruff.
Hair loss
Hair loss often indicates a deeper problem or imbalance. Hair loss can be related to stress, poor diet, hormonal disorders or scalp infections. Thinning hair can also be caused by diseases, such as thyroid failure or severe iron deficiency, i.e. anemia.
In order to get the condition under control in time, it is therefore important to find out if any of these conditions can cause hair loss. Effective treatment should always focus on stimulating the hair follicles and microcirculation, which helps the hair to grow stronger, more permanently and faster.
If the hair loss is connected to hormonal changes and there is a lot of DHT hormone in the hair follicle, the first symptom is often an oiliness of the scalp. Contrary to what is often thought, in this case it is important to take care of daily gentle washing of the hair, because greasiness fuels DHT production. The more DHT is allowed to form in the hair follicle, the more sensitive the hair follicle atrophies, which leads to gradual hair loss and baldness.
So take care of gently washing the scalp with a shampoo that is, however, effective enough to clean dead cells and sebum from the openings of the hair follicle, and which is also able to balance the microbiome of the scalp.
Scalp sensitivity
If there is sensitivity in the scalp, avoid shampoos with overly washing ingredients, dyes or strong fragrances. Also avoid bar soaps, whose pH value is always high and gradually changes the scalp to alkaline, because a functioning microbiota both on the skin and on the scalp always requires a slightly acidic environment. The stronger and more diverse the microbiota can be kept, the more effectively latent inflammatory conditions are kept under control.
Flaking of the scalp
Dandruff is always a symptom of an unbalanced state of the scalp. It can be caused by both fungus and yeast infections, as well as dryness and the accumulation of dead surface cells on the scalp.
-
There may be an overgrowth of the Malassezia yeast strain on the scalp. Oiliness and an oily scalp stimulate the growth of yeast. Prefer intensive care products with antibacterial and anti-fungal effects
-
If the scalp is dry, dead surface cells accumulate on the surface of the scalp, which flakes off more easily. The dead cell may also block hair follicles, which weakens hair growth. Prefer gently exfoliating and renewing care products with active fruit acids, enzymes or vitamin A
Balance is the key to a healthy and well-being scalp
You may know how to maintain balance in your facial care, but do you know how to find balance in your scalp?
The first step towards finding balance is to find out what is causing your imbalance. You may recognize possible alternatives from these tips, or you may have already, for example, visited your own dermatologist for help with the diagnosis process.
